HRT Near You: What a Hormone Therapy Program at Blue Sky MD Includes

If you’ve searched “HRT near me,” you’ve probably noticed that hormone therapy can mean very different things depending on where you go. Some clinics write a prescription after a short questionnaire. Others sell one product, like pellets, to everyone who walks in.

At Blue Sky MD, hormone therapy starts with your blood work. Here’s what our program includes, what the first 90 days look like, and where you can see us in North Carolina.

Signs it may be time to look at your hormones

Hormone changes tend to creep in slowly, so most people blame stress, work or age. Hormone imbalance is one possible explanation, and it’s one we can measure.

Common signs in women (often perimenopause or menopause):

  • Hot flashes and night sweats
  • Fatigue and trouble sleeping
  • Mood swings, anxiety or irritability
  • Weight gain that doesn’t respond to diet or exercise
  • Brain fog and low libido
  • Vaginal dryness or discomfort

Common signs in men (often low testosterone):

  • Low energy, especially in the afternoon
  • Low libido and reduced drive
  • Weight gain around the middle
  • Loss of strength and muscle
  • Brain fog, irritability or poor sleep

If several of these sound familiar, our free Hormone Quiz takes a few minutes and helps you decide whether testing makes sense.

HRT vs. BHRT vs. pellets: what’s the difference?

These terms get used interchangeably, but they mean different things.

  • HRT (hormone replacement therapy) is the general term for replacing hormones your body is no longer making enough of, most often estrogen (estradiol), progesterone and testosterone.
  • BHRT (bioidentical hormone replacement therapy) uses hormones that are molecule-for-molecule identical to the ones your body makes. They’re derived from plant sources and processed by your body the same way as its own.
  • Pellets are a delivery method, not a type of hormone. They’re one of several ways to deliver bioidentical hormones.

Depending on your labs and goals, your plan may use:

  • Hormone pellets: tiny pellets of bioidentical testosterone or estradiol placed under the skin in a quick in-office visit. They release steady doses and dissolve on their own, usually lasting about 3–4 months for women and 4–5 months for men.
  • Testosterone self-injections: weekly or twice-weekly injections you learn to do at home, with dosing that’s easy to fine-tune.
  • Clomid (clomiphene): an oral option for men that helps the body make more of its own testosterone and preserves fertility.
  • Creams, gels and oral progesterone: daily options that are often part of a woman’s plan.

You can read more about each option on our hormone replacement therapy page.

What the program includes, step by step

  1. Start with the Hormone Quiz or Health Assessment.
Tell us about your symptoms, history and goals. Take the Hormone Quiz or the free Health Assessment.
  2. Comprehensive labs. We run a full hormone panel at the clinic nearest you. This is the step many programs skip.
  3. Consultation.
Your provider sits down with you (in the office or by video) to explain your results in plain language.
  4. Your personalized plan.
If treatment makes sense, your provider recommends a hormone, dose and delivery method built from your numbers. If your labs don’t support hormone therapy, we’ll tell you.
  5. Follow-ups and rechecks.
We retest your levels, compare them with how you feel and adjust your dose. Hormones keep changing, so ongoing check-ins are part of the program.

Your first 90 days

  • Weeks 1–2: Labs and your consultation.
  • Weeks 2–3: Treatment begins, whether that’s a pellet insertion, your first at-home injection with coaching, or your prescription.
  • About 4 weeks in: We recheck your levels and fine-tune your dose. This is where “close” becomes “right.”
  • Ongoing: Regular labs and symptom check-ins keep you feeling your best.

How quickly will you feel a difference? It varies. Some patients notice changes within a few days, while others take a week or two as their levels rise. Most feel the full benefit once their dose is dialed in.

What does hormone therapy cost?

It depends on your insurance and your plan. Blue Sky MD is a physician-led medical practice, so many office visits, lab tests and treatments may be billed through your primary-care insurance, depending on your plan. We’ll check your benefits before you commit.

  • Insurance: in-network with most major primary-care plans
  • Self-pay: affordable options if you’re uninsured or have a high deductible
  • HSA and FSA: eligible

New patients can also claim $100 off hormone replacement therapy.
